NASHVILLE, TN — Blackstone Brewing Company® of Nashville, well-known for its award-winning craft beers, reports that its sales increased 50% in the first half of 2012. Sales growth at Blackstone Brewing Company® tracked the national uptrend that showed a 14% midyear nationwide sales growth for small and independent craft brewers as reported by the Brewers Association, the trade association representing the majority of U.S. brewing companies.
“It’s a great time to be in the craft brewing business,” said Stephanie Weins, co-founder of Blackstone Brewing Company®. “An increasing number of beer drinkers are appreciating the brews created by their local independent brewers such as Blackstone Brewing Company®, now in our 18th year brewing craft beers in Nashville. “
“Our state-of-the-art brewing and bottling facility was completed last summer and really came into its own during the first half of 2012. We expanded distribution to Knoxville and Memphis, and most recently to Chattanooga and Cookeville. This has been a great year for Blackstone and for craft beer!” noted Weins.
Nationally, sales of craft brewed beer jumped 14 percent during the first six months of 2012 compared to the same time period in 2011. The U.S. now has 2,126 breweries and 2,075 of them – or 97% – are craft brewers according to the Brewers Association. The craft brew industry provides an estimated 104,000 full-time and part-time jobs.
“Generally, most craft brewers are continuing to see strong growth in production, sales, brewing capacity and employment, which is to be celebrated during challenged times for many of today’s small businesses,” said Paul Gatza, director, Brewers Association.
