One of Middle Tennessee’s hardest working women will be honored by Dr. Bobby Jones at his next “Dinner & a Matinee” program, held at Jazz & Jokes.
Treva Gordon, publisher and owner of Convenient Shopper Magazine, Motivational Speaker, and Minister, will be the guest of honor at the upcoming event on March 17th at 1:30 P.M.
Dr. Jones is best known for crossing gospel music over to the mainstream by using both cable television and radio. For over 20 years he has produced shows for BET and is the host and executive producer of “Bobby Jones Gospel”, which remains one of BET’s highest rated programs.
Gordon, who has co-hosted various events with Dr. Jones in the past, is very excited about the world-famous Gospel artist recognizing her work in the community.
“I am very honored to receive this award from Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones,” Gordon said. “He is a legend and appreciated and loved from all around the world.”
Gordon’s magazine Convenient Shopper allows small businesses the opportunity to advertise at responsible rates. It also provides readers with entertaining articles and important Clarksville, TN news often overlooked by larger media sources.
Treva Gordon has used her background in publicity and marketing to not only create her own publication, but to also produce community events.
In 2010, she founded Clarksville Unity Day, an annual event in the month of June, where pastors, business leaders, non-profit leaders, the Fort Campbell military community, and others are celebrated with a prestigious award show. Past honorees include Dr. Bobby Jones, Pastor Wess Morgan, APSU Coach Dave Loos, and Clarksville Mayor Carolyn Bowers.
Gordon has also worked alongside various Non-Profit Organizations that includes: Nia Association, L.E.A.P, Young Daughters of Destiny, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Salvation Army.
In 2011 Gordon began Leading Ladies, an organization that celebrates and promotes successful women. She is scheduled to release A Leading Ladies book in June 2013. The book will feature more than 50 women sharing their stories of inspiration and faith.
Gordon is married to her long time husband Robert of 20 years and together they have 3 children.
She is also a playwright with several successful productions under her belt. Her last play Deception “Fooled By A Feeling” featuring Pastor Wess Morgan was a huge success and is now in works to being a national tour.
Treva Gordon also founded a ministry called Team Purpose, where she provides outreach to those incarcerated.
She believes that there is no secret to how she is able to achieve so many things. “I would have to say it is my faith in God and a great family support team,” she explained.
