Bishop Jerry L. Maynard Launches New Record Label.

By Ronald W. Weathersby

Legendary Christian leader Bishop Jerry L. Maynard announced recently that he will expand his ministry through recorded music with the formation of JeLaMa Records based in Nashville. Bishop Maynard, the Senior Pastor of the Cathedral of Praise church in North Nashville has entered into an agreement with Central South Distribution to handle worldwide distribution of all products on the label.

“A lot of times things that you want to do have to wait until all the pieces are place,” Maynard said during a telephone interview with the Tribune. “I was inspired that this is the moment to move forward. I am beyond thrilled to be working with the exquisitely talented team at Central South. For years, I have watched them work behind the scenes and I can’t wait for the world to hear what we’ve got planned!”

For years my Father has dreamed of this day – to carry his vision into the larger marketplace and touch lives through the recorded medium of music,” declared Metro At-Large Councilman Jerry Maynard, III, who is President for the label “It is a pleasure to help his dream become a reality!”

Maynard said the label will work with both homegrown and national talent as it grows.

“We will be involving local and outside talent. We’re looking to launch new careers and we encourage established artists to come and join us.”

JeLaMa Records first release, Bishop Jerry L. Maynard presents The Cathedral of Praise Choir”, is slated for release on October 30th. The debut single from this anointed choir, “Just Believe,” is now at radio and features recording artist Michelle Prather. The single may also be heard online at www.BishopMaynard.com.

“Every Sunday,” Bishop Maynard said, “this talented group of musicians blesses our congregation with their voices and spirit. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”

The recording industry is highly competitive and many new labels have not been successful but the Bishop is not deterred by the challenge.

“It is the right time,” declared Maynard who has led Cathedral of Praise for 17 years. “I am inspired by the Lord. We move not only through faith but beyond it with deeds. You must do something to cause something to happen.”

The new venture is supported by prominent individuals and profitable organizations with decades of experience.

“We have involved experts and individuals who have experience to move this project forward. Our plan is not necessarily to compete with the giants of the business but to identify where we ought to be and move into that area.”
