NASHVILLE, TN – Tom Joyner, the nationally syndicated radio personality and philanthropist, is set to give the commencement address at Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn. on May 6th.
Joyner will deliver his words of inspiration at 10 a.m. at the Campus Grove. He also will receive an honorary doctorate. In January, Fisk was the Tom Joyner Foundation ‘School of the Month’, benefiting from funds raised by the foundation Joyner created 15 years ago that helps students.
The foundation chose Fisk as part of its on-going effort to assist these institutions in broadening and strengthening their efforts to raise money to help keep students attending HBCUs.
As one of the Tom Joyner Foundation ‘Schools of the Month’, each school is promoted by the Tom Joyner Morning Show and receives those funds raised from listeners, alumni and other interested parties that month. The show, aired in 115 markets around the country, reaches nearly eight million listeners every week.
For nearly 145 years, Fisk University has provided an environment that has nurtured and challenged the minds of young people. It’s internationally recognized for its Jubilee Singers. Every year top students from the United States and across the globe choose Fisk as their portal to better lives through academic and social preparation for the world of work and meaningful civic engagement.
