Bus Trip to Obama’s Inauguration

As excitement builds for the second inauguration of President Barack Obama, many people are making arrangements to travel in 10 or 11 days to Washington, D.C for the historic event.

The President and Vice President Joe Biden will take the oath of office on the steps of the United States Capitol at noon in a public ceremony on Jan. 21, 2013. The swearing-in is followed by a parade on Pennsylvania Avenue in the afternoon.

John Smith of JohnSmithMarketing.com has made the trip easier by organizing travel, which begins by bus leaving on Jan. 18; Nashville radio station 92.Q is co-sponsoring.

The trip package includes bus transportation, a hotel room at Ramada Inn, a tour of Nation’s Capitol, the swearing- in ceremony, and the Inaugural Parade.

The tour includes visiting various Museums throughout Washington, DC and a visit to the United Sates Capitol Building on Sunday.

Tickets for the swearing – in will place individuals in a general area at the National Mall.

The trip also allows for personal time that can be used to explore the city of DC at one’s leisure. Tickets for special events such as the Inaugural Ball must be purchased at people’s discretion.

The bus will return on Jan. 22. The trip is nonrefundable, but can be transferred to another person. The itinerary is subject to change.

The trip is important to Smith for personal reasons. As a young adult who did not witness the civil rights movement, he is happy to see the results of the work that went into that era.

“I wasn’t alive during the civil rights movement, but I have studied about that time and the struggles people went through,” Smith explained. “I am excited about all the young people who have a chance to see the work pay off with the reelection of our first African-American president.”

Smith was also very active in the political process during the last election cycle. He traveled across the nation working with the Obama Campaign Team and was in North Carolina the day of the election knocking on voters’ doors.

Johnsmithmarketing.com has been responsible for sponsoring travel services to various events including national award shows, Black Spring Break, Essence Music Festival and others. The organization has also handled promotions for the Tyler Perry plays “Marriage Counselor” and “Madea’s Big Happy Family” when they visited Nashville. The Def Comedy Jam Tour and the Soul Food Festival are other events that Smith is responsible for promoting.

Smith sponsored a successful trip in 2009 to Barack Obama’s first inauguration.

“We had a huge turn out,” Smith said. “Many of the folks who went last time are going again.”

Departure locations are available throughout the state of Tennessee. There will be pick-ups in Nashville, Cookeville, Knoxville, and Bristol (Tri-Cities).

Three buses have already been booked with tickets now available up to the day of departure. Smith has committed to ordering as many buses as needed so all who purchase tickets will be accommodated.
