Death Notice

  ·
It is with profound sorrow—and yet with calm assurance in Christ—that we share the passing of our beloved Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Freddie B. Carpenter, Jr. After a lifetime of faithful service, he has been called to his eternal rest.
Rev. Carpenter accepted the call to lead Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in 1988. For thirty years he faithfully shepherded this congregation, guiding Bethel through seasons of growth, vision, and community impact. Under his leadership, two major building projects were completed, new ministries were launched that continue to bless our church today, and many young preachers were nurtured for ministry.
In 2018, he retired and was named Pastor Emeritus, having devoted over four decades to pastoral ministry. His legacy at Bethel is one of faithfulness, humility, and unwavering devotion to God’s people.
We ask that you keep his family and loved ones in your prayers during this tender time. Out of respect for their grief, we encourage our church family and community to refrain from overwhelming calls or visits, and instead to stand with them in prayer and compassion.
Details regarding his homegoing service will be shared in the coming days. Until then, we rejoice in the promise that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8)
