The all-new 2017 S90 is Volvo’s luxury 4-door, 5-seat flagship sedan. It takes cues from the success of the award-winning XC90 SUV and raises the bar with stunning Scandinavian design, a sumptuous interior and a powerful four-cylinder Drive-E engine. But the Volvo S90 is also making headlines on this side of the pond too.  It’s the first car in the United States to offer semi-autonomous driving technology as standard. Two world-first safety technologies will also come as standard. The “Large Animal Detection” can automatically stop the car to avoid or mitigate a collision while Run-Off Road Mitigation can detect if the vehicle is about to leave the road and gently steer it to prevent deviation. It’s truly a “smart car.” This type of technology is featured in addition to the safety, connectivity and interior luxury customers have enjoyed in the award-winning Volvo XC90 SUV.

Volvo’s “World First Road Edge Detection & Run-off Road Protection” is a feature to significantly reduce or eliminate traffic fatalities and injuries resulting from the vehicle leaving the roadway, Volvo’s all-new S90 features new run off road protections, including Lane Keeping Aids that attempt to keep the vehicle in the proper lane.

“City Safety & Blind Spot Information System” (BLIS), Volvo’s City Safety system, which detects vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and now large animals to avoid or mitigate an accident, was proven by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) to reduce rear-end crashes by 41% and injuries by 47%.

The all-new Volvo S90 comes with four standard Drive Mode settings. They can be chosen via an elegant rotary knob in the center console. Each separate Drive Mode controls engine, automatic gearbox, steering, brakes, Electronic Stability Control and Stop/Start functions and gives each Drive Mode different characteristics.

Volvo collaborated with Bowers & Wilkins and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra to recreate the outstanding sound of the Gothenburg Concert Hall in the cabin of the S90. Nineteen speakers, including the world’s first body integrated air-ventilated subwoofer, provide superior sound for the most demanding audiophile.
