The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has been a hot commodity since the day the Ford Motor Company revealed its new all-electric pickup. This vehicle has remained one of the most sought after electric vehicles on the market throughout the year. There’s a reason that the F-series is America’s best-selling truck for the past 45 years.
Forget monitoring the gasoline prices every other day because this latest F-150 is 100% electric! The Ford engineers have created one of the smartest, most connected F-150 Ford has ever built. It’s packed with all of the advantages that zero-emissions propulsion offers— from nearly instantaneous torque to Ford Intelligent Backup Power, connected services to intelligent range, it’s a strong, capable look at what’s to come.
The F-150 Lightning offers the customer two battery choices — Standard Range and Extended Range. The Lightning offers the unique SYNC4A®. As a communications system, the SYNC4A® is a sleek and modern interface that uses machine learning to quickly learn a driver’s preferences. The technology gets even better with each software update. The 15.5 inch portrait touchscreen and adaptive dash card interface gets rid of those complicated menus, and instead makes it so much easier to access features with a simple touch, swipe and pinch controls. If you’re already a smartphone user, maneuvering through this screen’s menu will be a breeze.
One of the biggest concerns with potential electric vehicle purchasers have is the question: Where can I get my vehicle recharged? The F-150 Lightning offers owners simple and easy charging access to the Blue Oval™ Charge Network, which has access to over 19,500 charging stations throughout the nation. When needed, the batteries are totally recyclable, and Ford will suggest recycling options for any out-of-warranty batteries.
All Ford F-150 Lightning series come with the 32-amp Ford Mobile Charger which allows drivers to charge from a traditional 120V or 240V outlet. No special stations required. The extended-range battery comes standard with the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro. This allows a peak charging power of 19.2 kW enabled by the battery’s dual onboard chargers which means a full charge overnight.
As we all know, the weather can often be unpredictable. So, in the event of a storm, resulting with a loss of power at home, the Lightning’s 80-AMP cord can charge up by using it’s Ford Intelligent Backup Power. This system acts as a generator to power up the home for up to 3 days, and up to 10 days if the electricity has to be rationed. (NOTE: If the home is equipped and have a home transfer switch disconnects home from the grid).
