NASHVILLE, TN — GRAMMY-winning artist Amy Grant and renowned Nashville philanthropist Martha R. Ingram will receive stars on the Music City Walk of Fame during an induction ceremony on last week (April 27, 2017), at the Walk of Fame Park. The ladies received the 75th and 76th stars on the Walk of Fame. Inductees are recognized for their significant contributions to preserving the musical heritage of Nashville and for contributing to the world through song or other industry collaboration. The Music City Walk of Fame was created in 2006 on Nashville’s Music Mile, a roughly one-mile stretch that connects downtown to Music Row. Permanent sidewalk medallions with the names of the inductees are displayed in a star-and-guitar design.
Nashville Mayor Megan Barry was also present at the well-attended ceremony, along with family and friends of both inductees.
Both Ms. Ingram and Ms. Grant are more than deserving for such honors. Amy Grant has spent most of her life in Nashville. The singer/songwriter has earned numerous awards over her long career in contemporary Christian and pop music, including six GRAMMY Awards. In addition to her many music accolades, she’s also known for her ongoing work to support a variety of charitable and philanthropic local, national and international organizations.
Martha R. Ingram is the Chairman Emerita of the Board of Directors of Ingram Industries Inc., one of America’s largest privately held companies. Ms. Ingram serves on many prominent boards, among them includes: the Nashville Symphony, Nashville Opera Association, the Nashville Repertory Theatre and the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, which she helped create. She is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Nashville Ballet and a former member of the advisory board of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
