NASHVILLE, TN — The Vanderbilt Commodores evened their SEC mark Sunday with a critical victory over the 22nd ranked Georgia Bulldogs. The 4-0 victory improved their conference mark to 12-12 (31-15 overall). It was another series win for Vanderbilt, trying to both get back into the Top 25 and also get an NCAA Regional game following the SEC Tournament. They got a big boost from starter Carter Holton, who got his sixth win in nine decisions. He pitched six strong innings, allowing four hits and walking only two while striking out five.

Reliever Nick Maldonado had two scoreless innings and Thomas Schultz capped the win by pitching a scoreless ninth. Vanderbilt got an early 2-0 lead, courtesy of a two-run homer from Dominic Keegan, his third of the series. They got another two runs in the sixth on a double from Javier Vaz.

The Commodores had a home game Tuesday against Indiana State. They play their final SEC road series this weekend at Arkansas, then they return home for four final games. The first is their last weekday non-SEC game against Middle Tennessee, then LSU comes to Hawkins field for the last regular season weekend series. The Middle Tennessee game will be Fan Appreciation Day (May 17). Senior weekend runs May 19-21). The SEC Tournament runs May 24-29 at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Hoover, Alabama.
