It’s almost tax day! Need help getting your taxes files on time? You may want to try the AARP Foundation’s Tax-Aide program, a free tax assistance and preparation for taxpayers with low to moderate income. This tax season, nearly 400 volunteers will prepare tax filling documents at 66 locations across Tennessee.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service, giving special attention to those 60 and older. You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this free service.
“Every year, the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program helps thousands of Tennesseans with tax preparation,” said Rebecca Kelly, AARP Tennessee State Director. “We hope people will take advantage of this free service. We have many Tax-Aide volunteers across the state that will be assisting people with their taxes through April 18, this year’s filing deadline date.”
Whether you are a working or retired individual, Tax-Aide’s IRS tax-certified volunteer preparers at each site can help answer your questions and prepare your tax returns. In addition to earned and retirement income reporting, we can help you with your investment income (interests, dividends, and capital gains for Schedule D), Schedule C for individuals with small businesses that have less than $25,000 in annual expenses, and various healthcare (Affordable Care Act), education, child and earned income credits.
The program is offered throughout Tennessee including senior centers, libraries and other convenient locations. For more information and to find a Tax Aide location near you, visit the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide site: www.aarp.org/taxaide. By phone, call 1-888-AARPNOW (1-888-227-7669).
