TN Tribune–Louis Mills was the son of Michael and Eliza (Allen) Mills. He was born and raised in Western North Carolina and spent years living and working in Henderson and Buncombe Counties. During Joe’s working years, he worked for a number of companies including Pilgrim’s Funeral Home, CP Clare and Westinghouse/Eaton. He was a devoted member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where over the years he served as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry, Sunday School Superintendent, van driver, and landscaper when he was healthy.

For 57 years, Joe was married to the love of his life, Hattie Adell Mills. To this union was born two daughters, Melinda and Mary Jo. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Eliza, and two brothers, Ben Mills and his wife Annie Laura, and Fred Mills and his wife Martha, his sister Clara Mills and Esther, Walter’s wife. He is survived by his wife Hattie, daughters Melinda Mills Bolling (Anthony) and Mary Jo Mills, brother Walter F. Mills, granddaughter Aliza Bolling, grandson Absalom Bolling and a host of family and loved ones.

There will be a viewing on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 12:00 pm followed by the service at 1:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church located at 537 Concord Rd., Fletcher, NC. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Shad Waters will officiate. Acknowledgements may be made at rayfuneralcremation.com. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all attendees will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
