NASHVILLE, TN — The Nashville Chapter of Les Gemmes will hold its 17th annual Literary Luncheon on Saturday, May 18. It begins at 11 am at the Music City Center.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Our Stories…Empowering Our Future.” 

The featured author is journalist Reshonda Tate,  author of the Queen of Sugar Hill, and 50 other books. Tate is a renowned scholar, journalist, presenter and author.  

Two of Tate’s books have been made into television movies. BET released a movie in 2013 based on Reshonda’s book, Let the Church Say Amen, and the made for TV movie, The Secret She Kept (2016), based on her book of the same name. 

This traditional fundraiser supports the “Lighting the Path for Girls Initiative.  The young ladies are called Jewels and they are exposed to an array of activities to provide them a holistic lifestyle.

The Honorable Karen Johnson is chair of the luncheon and Dr. Candra Clariette is co-chair. “They are doing a wonderful job to make this event a success,” said Les Gemmes President Dr. Phyllis Qualls.

Vendors are a traditional part of the program and invited to participate. Booth space is available and vendors will have an opportunity to expose their wares to a huge audience, authors, and artists of all genres are invited to participate.  “This is a great opportunity for authors to promote their books and be exposed to a wide audience,” said Rene’ Whittaker, chair of the Vendors Committee.
