NASHVILLE, TN — The Tennessee Education Lottery Corp. reports a third-quarter transfer to education of $108.2 million, the third highest of all quarters.
The transfer brings the total raised for education to more than $4.96 billion, Lottery officials said April 15. And Jan. 1-March 31 sales were the third highest of all quarters since the Lottery began in 2004.
“These stellar results are great news for education in Tennessee,” said Rebecca Hargrove, president and CEO of the Tennessee Lottery. “The Lottery continues to achieve its goal of maximizing dollars to fund valuable education programs, which has resulted in more than 1.3 million scholarships and grants awarded since we began.”
Now, third-quarter instant-game sales of $375.4 million were the highest for any quarter since inception.
Also this week, Lottery officials said proceeds for education for the first three quarters of the fiscal year (July 1, 2018, through March 31, 2019) are 6.4 percent higher than the previous period.
Since inception, players won more than $13.5 billion in prizes and Lottery retailers have earned more than $1.2 billion in retailer commissions.
