Prominent Chattanooga preacher, businessman and community activist Steve A. Caudle will be the featured speaker March 20-22 when Spiritual Renewal Week services are held at Nashville’s First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill.

The Reverend Dr. Caudle, a native of Chattanooga, is the senior pastor of the city’s Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church. He will headline First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill’s, Spiritual Renewal Week or revival services at 6 p.m. next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill, located at 625 Rosa Parks Blvd., has as its theme for this year’s Spiritual Renewal Week, Dare to Deviate: Transforming Body, Mind and Spirit. The event is open free to the public.

The Reverend Dr. Kelly Miller Smith Jr., who is in his sixth year as pastor of First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill, has said that Spiritual Renewal Week at the church is always a very significant time in the life of FBCCH.

“It is a time for us to not only reflect upon the goodness of God but renew our commitment to our faith and for the advancement of the kingdom of Jesus Christ,’’ Rev. Smith has previously said.

Meanwhile, Rev. Caudle, a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, believes strongly in the ministry to children.

Since becoming pastor of the Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church in 2006, Rev. Caudle has initiated the AWANA (Approved Workers Are Not Ashamed) program which ministers to children and youth, and the Big-Hearted Angel’s Ministry, which provides $50 for Christmas shopping for indigent children.

In 1980, Rev. Caudle graduated from Lane College in Jackson, Tenn., with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. After receiving his undergraduate degree, Rev. Caudle entered into bi-vocational ministry in Chattanooga where he served as pastor of Harmon’s Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Tenn., and Green’s Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Charleston, Tenn.

During his early ministry in East Tennessee, he worked as a loan officer at the American National Bank of Chattanooga.

Meanwhile, in 1995, Rev. Caudle enrolled and received a Master’s of Theology Degree from the Dallas, Tex., Theological Seminary with a major in pastoral ministry. While in Dallas, he pastored the Faith Cumberland Presbyterian Church and worked with the Strategies to Elevate People program, an inner-city ministry focused on meeting the needs of the poor.

From 1996 to 2006, Rev. Caudle served as pastor of the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Lakeland, Fla.

In 1991, Rev. Caudle married the former Deborah Delayne Davis. They have three children, Jessica, 22; Khyndall, 18, and Adam, 15. In his leisure, Dr. Caudle enjoys writing and playing golf. He is also an avid Tennessee Titans and Tennessee Volunteer fan, so at any given time, you might hear him shout, Go Vols!

Rev. Caudle has also worked with various community service organizations, such as the NAACP, and as a founding member of the Polk Ecumenical Action Council for Empowerment.
