NASHVILLE, Tenn. — State Representative Vincent Dixie today announced his candidacy for chair of the Tennessee Democratic Party, pledging to bring bold leadership and a renewed focus on strengthening Democratic infrastructure, engaging voters, and winning elections across the state.
“As Chair, my mission is straightforward: to build a stronger Democratic Party that delivers real results for working families,” Dixie said. “Tennessee has hit rock bottom. We’re teetering on the edge of an economic crisis thanks to the reckless fiscal mismanagement of Republicans, who have controlled every chamber of government for over a decade. Democrats haven’t been telling this story effectively, and that has to change. We need bold leadership that understands our coalitions are our strength. Community is our strength. I’m running for Chair because I know what needs to be done, and my experience equips me to lead the way. By showing up for working families, we can demonstrate to Tennesseans that Democratic leadership offers a brighter future for everyone.”
Dixie emphasized the critical need to invest in county parties to expand voter engagement and build local power. “Too many Tennesseans have stopped voting because they don’t see how it matters—and we’re all feeling the consequences,” Dixie said. “The extremist GOP supermajority, which doesn’t represent the values of most Tennesseans, is wreaking havoc on our state. From crippling medical debt to the gutting of our already underfunded public schools, they’re creating deeper inequities in our communities. Public safety is deteriorating, and countless lives are being ruined by their policies.”
Dixie stressed that Democrats must step up and make it clear that they’re the ones fighting for proven solutions that actually improve people’s lives. “We know our policies work, but we’re not getting the message across,” Dixie added. “If we want to turn this around, we need to break through the noise and meet people where they are—at their kitchen tables, in their communities, and in their daily lives. That’s how we’ll inspire change and rebuild trust in the power of voting.”
Rep. Dixie’s campaign will focus on revitalizing the party’s grassroots infrastructure, increasing support for Democratic candidates statewide, and building a movement that inspires Tennesseans to believe in the power of their vote. He wants to make sure every Tennessean has enough money to pay their bills, enough food on their table, a roof over their head, and if they get sick, they can go see a doctor.
Dixie was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. and moved to Nashville when he was nine years old. He was educated in the Metro Nashville Public School System and went to high school at Hunters Lane. For his postsecondary education, Vincent earned a Bachelor in Accounting in 1997 and a Master of Business Administration in 2004 from Tennessee State University.
