NASHVILLE, TN — The Tennessee Titans went for offense rather than defense with their first round pick Thursday, selecting Georgia’s Isaiah Wilson with their first round pick. He’s being envisioned as the replacement at right tackle for Jack Conklin, who departed for the Cleveland Browns in free agency. He was the 29th overall pick. While the Titans also have Dennis Kelly for offensive line depth, Wilson is considered a potential star. He was one of some 15 former SEC players chosen in the early draft founds. They then addressed a defensive need in the second round with another SEC selection. This time they picked LSI cornerback Kristian Fulton, who comes with a good reputation in both coverage skills ad overall defensive ability.
The Titans returned to offense with their third choice, selecting running back Darrynton Evans from Appalachian State. The fourth pick was defensive lineman Larrell Murchison from North Carolina State. It wasn’t until the seventh round that the Titans made a move to improve the backup QB position. Using a pick they obtained from the Browns as part of the Taywan Taylor pick, they took QB Cole McDonald of Hawaii. He’s widely regarded as a long-term project, but does at least offer some depth.
Another seventh round pick was defensive back Chris Jackson from Marshall. The Titans had three seventh round picks. They traded the second one to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2021 sixth round pick. They did not have a pick in the sixth round.
