Giving Kitchen, the award-winning no Giving Kitchen, the award-winning non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance to food service workers, has a remarkable journey rooted in community support and resilience. Founded in 2013 in response to Chef Ryan Hidinger’s stage-four cancer diagnosis, Giving Kitchen has since expanded its reach beyond Atlanta, now serving Tennessee food service workers since 2021.

The organization’s genesis lies in the overwhelming response to Chef Hidinger’s diagnosis. Friends within the restaurant industry, and subsequently, the broader Atlanta community, rallied behind him with love and financial support, providing a lifeline during a challenging time. According to Jen Hidinger, Ryan’s wife, this outpouring of support extended Ryan’s life by at least six months, underscoring the power of community in times of crisis.

Today, Giving Kitchen continues its mission with steadfast dedication, supported by the leadership of the Hidinger family, donors, partners, staff, and board. The organization’s impact is tangible, having supported thousands of food service workers in crisis over the years. With operations now extending into Tennessee, Giving Kitchen’s influence continues to grow, offering vital assistance to those in need.

As part of their fundraising efforts, Giving Kitchen is hosting the second-annual Nashville tasting event fundraiser, Tennessee Tasting, on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the One Fourteen event center from 4-8 p.m. The event promises an unforgettable culinary experience, featuring a lineup of local chefs and bartenders showcasing their finest fare under one roof. Guests will also enjoy live music, a live auction, and a selection of beverages, including beer, wine, cocktails, and mocktails.

Tickets for the event are available for $125 for the VIP “Tastemaker” experience starting at 4 PM, and $75 for general admission starting at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds from ticket sales and donations go directly to Giving Kitchen to support their mission of aiding food service workers in crisis.

Since its expansion into Tennessee in 2021, Giving Kitchen has provided critical assistance to over 307 food service workers, awarding over $449,000 in financial aid. Additionally, the organization has facilitated 2,321 Stability Network referrals to local community resources, providing invaluable support to those in need.

Jen Hidinger-Kendrick, Founder of Giving Kitchen, expresses gratitude for the organization’s growth and impact, emphasizing the importance of community support in their journey. Culinary talents and sponsors alike have rallied behind the cause, recognizing the vital role Giving Kitchen plays in supporting the food service industry.

As Giving Kitchen continues to expand its reach and impact, its commitment to creating a compassionate and caring food service community remains unwavering.
