As part of its Broadway Across America series, the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) presents a tale as old as time that’s hitting all high notes as it welcomes the national tour of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast: The Musical,” which opened Nov. 4 and runs through Nov. 16. Led by Kyra Belle Johnson as Belle and Fergie L. Philippe as the Beast, the production brings to life the classic fairy tale of a beautiful young woman named Belle who is imprisoned by a hideous Beast, who is actually a prince cursed by an enchantress for his selfishness. To break the curse, the Beast must earn Belle’s love before the last petal falls from his enchanted rose, or he will remain a monster forever.

This big stage musical production features bright and dazzling sets, special effects, and stunning costume designs. The lead actors elevate this timeless tale with moving performances that tug at the heart while supporting cast members round out the magic with their own unmistakable roles that steal the limelight.

“Beauty and the Beast” features anticipated showstopping songs, “Gaston” performed by actor Stephen Mark Lucas, the well-known and memorable “Be Our Guest,” led by actor Danny Gardner who magnificently portrays the role of Lumiere, and the charming love ballad’s Beauty and the Beast (Tale as Old as Time).

Under the direction of Matt West, this production is filled with a talented and funny cast of Broadway and tour veterans like Javier Ignacio (Cogsworth), Danny Gardner (Lumiere), Kathy Voytko (Mrs. Potts), and Cameron Monroe Thomas (Babette).

For those who know well this story and enjoy the magic of Disney, “Beauty and the Beast: The Musical” is a funny, inspirational, must-see show that will not disappoint. And for the next generation learning about this tale, they’ll be just as moved by this timeless classic.

“Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” plays through November 16 at TPAC, 505 Deaderick Street. For tickets and showtime information, visit tpac.org.
