The Tennessee State University Alumni Association (TSUAA) Nashville Chapter hosted its annual Scholarship Banquet on September 22, 2026, celebrating academic achievement and the promise of future leaders under the theme, “Empowering Excellence That Shapes Tomorrow.”
The event brought together alumni, donors, students, families, and community supporters to recognize 11 scholarship recipients, including six incoming freshmen awarded three-year partial scholarships covering six semesters and five continuing scholars, consisting of three sophomores and two juniors.
The evening was co-hosted by Rozalett Bibb and Jalynn Pillow, both TSU juniors and scholarship recipients who have participated in the TSUAA Nashville Chapter Scholarship Program for the past three years. They shared personal reflections on the impact of scholarships, mentorship, and alumni support in helping students achieve their academic and career goals.
Tina Fox, President of the TSUAA Nashville Chapter, delivered remarks recognizing the generosity of alumni, donors, and supporters whose contributions continue to create educational opportunities for deserving students. Barbara Jackson, Scholarship Committee Chair, highlighted the dedication of the Scholarship Committee, whose members work year-round to raise scholarship funds, provide mentorship, encourage academic excellence, and support students throughout their collegiate journey.
The evening also featured a special musical selection by Candance Floyd, a proud Tennessee State University graduate. Catering for the event was generously provided by Chief Kenneth Montgomery, also a TSU alumnus, whose support contributed to the success of the banquet and reflected the spirit of alumni giving back to future generations of Tigers.
