NASHVILLE, TENN. (TN Tribune) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee (BBBSMT) has promoted Bryan Currie to Chief Impact Officer to oversee the strategic direction for programming in the Middle Tennessee agency.

“Bryan has proven his passion for youth since he joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee in 2018,” said Melissa Hudson-Gant, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee. “We know this new role will provide him the opportunity to deepen the impact of our organization.”

Prior to his promotion in March 2022, Currie served as the Vice President of Capacity Building Initiatives since July 2021 and as the Director of Education and Inclusion before that. Before joining Big Brothers Big Sisters, he served as a Youth Violence Prevention Strategist for the Metro Public Health Department where he led a collective-impact coalition to address systemic issues that lead to youth violence.

Currie’s more than two decades in youth development work have also included time in New York City, where he managed youth programs for a non-profit organization that supports LGBTQ youth in schools across the five boroughs. As a program strategist and curriculum writer, Currie has written curriculum addressing healthy masculinity for Nashville’s YWCA, as well as diversity curriculum used in schools nationwide. He was recently published in the youth development textbook, “The Young Are Making Their World: Essays on the Power of Youth Culture.”

Currie holds a bachelor’s degree in religion and communications from Union University, as well as a master’s degree in youth development and program management from Michigan State University.

As a Nashville native, Currie is an amateur potter who enjoys showing his work at craft shows in the area. Additionally, he enjoys snorkeling and is in the process of completing a SCUBA certification with plans of spending time underwater this summer. Currie, his husband and their German Shepard, Bella, enjoy spending time outdoors and any activity that involves good food and drink.
