(New York, New York – May 26, 2022) The International Screenwriters’ Association announced on Monday that Gloria Browne-Marshall’s screenplay “Sergeant Freeman” has been awarded the 2022 Emerging Screenwriters Action/Adventure Genre Winner.
In “Sergeant Freeman,” African-American Sergeant Stella Freeman has taken on a military mission of a lifetime when her college-bound daughter Keisha goes missing. A single mom and widow, Freeman’s search to find her child leads to White supremacists plotting a race war from a rural Pennsylvania town.
“Sergeant Freeman” will catch the imagination and emotion of any parent that has to fight to save their children, while remaining a tense thriller that exposes the theater-goer to the frightening real-world of America’s domestic terrorist in a battle between good and evil.
“Thank you to the International Screenwriters’ Association for this great honor,” Browne-Marshall, said. “I know this script resonates with parents and families especially in our country that is so divided by race.”
