NASHVILLE, TN — Joelle Phillips, president of AT&T Tennessee will serve as the February lecturer for The Executive Series at Fisk University. Phillips is the latest Nashville executive to participate in the Series, following lectures given by John Ingram of Ingram Content Group and Gary Garfield, retired chairman of Bridgestone Americas.
The Executive Series is a monthly lecture series featuring Nashville’s top executives who share their stories, expertise, and interpretation of leadership. The next Series will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 12:00pm in the Appleton Room of Jubilee Hall at Fisk University.
Phillips assumed the role of president in 2013 and has been responsible for managing the statewide operations, community engagement, and philanthropic efforts of AT&T Tennessee. She joined AT&T in the legal department as an attorney and held positions at both the state and regional levels before being named president in 2013.
“With The Executive Series, we are providing our students and members of the Nashville community with face-to-face conversations with the top leaders who are shaping our economy on a daily basis,” said Dr. Jens Frederiksen, vice president of institutional advancement and strategic development. “The demands of a global economy and the versatility required of leadership are inspiring to students and are also aligned with Fisk’s rigorous liberal arts curriculum. Our students are prepared to be leaders, but the exposure to senior executives provides an invaluable perspective.”
The Executive Series will include an hour-long lecture, followed by a Q-and-A session for attendees. The event is open to the public. Launched late 2016, the Series is part of a continuous effort of Fisk University to establish relationships with regional, national, and global corporations in different sectors to support networking opportunities and recruitment.
