In just a few weeks, Tennessee State University will hold its 10th annual Women of Legend and Merit Awards celebration. Seanne Wilson, who oversees the Women’s Center and State Rep. Brenda Gilmore, who is honorary chair of the event, are guests this week on “Take 10 with The Tennessee Tribune.” They told Sandra Long Weaver, Tribune Editorial Director, that Vivica Fox will be the featured speaker and entertainment will be provided by Angela Winbush. Angela Crane-Jones, Nashville Business Incubation Center Executive Director, talks with Tribune Social Media Director Jason Luntz on his visit to the center. Howard E. Jones, Jr. has announced his willingness to serve the people of the 19th State Senatorial District, if Senator Thelma Harper decides not to run for re election for another term. Jones made the announcement at the State Capitol on Thursday at a news conference. The Nashville native has been serving and leading for more than 30 years, and now has decided to broaden his reach. Alisha James, Assistant Commissioner for Probation, Parole and Community Corrections for the Tennessee Department of Corrections, is this week’s guest on Take 10 with The Tennessee Tribune. NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today thanked the General Assembly for its swift confirmation of six local university governing boards, giving the higher education institutions increased autonomy to support student success as the state continues its Drive to 55 initiative. NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Gordon’s, the restaurant best known for creating unique Nashville hot chicken dishes, is unveiling its new Sunday Brunch menu this week. The restaurant will introduce its version of the increasingly popular dish Hot Chicken and Waffles. NASHVILLE, TN — Music City strums a slow, sad song, having lost a dedicated and brave police officer who drowned while trying to save a life late last week.
