NASHVILLE, TN — Noting that the MNPD is in compliance with 100% of model law enforcement standards and policies, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) today granted the department Advanced Reaccreditation with Excellence for a period of three years. Anthony Scaramucci has resigned from his role as White House communications director, according to ABC and The New York Times. Scaramucci was named communications director on July 21, a mere 10 days ago. The resignation comes after a controversy-laden week for Scaramucci that included a profanity-lace tirade against other members of President Donald Trump’s White House staff. Megan Barry, the mayor of Nashville, announced Sunday that her 22-year-old son had died of an apparent overdose. Barry and her husband Bruce said in a statement they received the “news no parents should ever have to hear” on Saturday, that Max “suffered from an overdose and passed away. We cannot begin to describe the pain and heartbreak that comes with losing our only child,” the couple’s statement said. “Our son was a kind soul full of life and love for his family and friends.” Young Barry was in Denver when he died, the statement said. SPARTA, Tenn. — A judge in White County, Tennessee has rescinded his standing order offering a 30-day reduction in jail time to male inmates who get vasectomies and female inmates who get a Nexplanon implant in their arms. The ACLU of Tennessee has issued the following statement in response.
