- For more than two hours and 40 minutes, the National Civil Rights Museum on Wednesday afternoon commemorated the 50th anniversary of the passing of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Lorraine Motel.
The Tennessee Tribune had a reporter in Memphis for the program and events preceeding that series of speeches, sermons and musical performances concluding with a rousing interpretstion of the gospel song “Take My Hand, Precious Lord.”
For more on the 50th anniversary, see other stories now on tntribune.com, and get a copy of our print edition being prepared for distribution on Thursday, April 12.
Without commentary, CSPAN televised the program live and continues to display it on the Internet.
