NASHVILLE, TN — As someone with strong ties to North Nashville, you likely know how much the area has contributed to the city as a whole. The City of Nashville would like to hear from you, as it pursues steps to rectify the harm done when Interstate 40 (I-40) bisected this vibrant community. That journey begins with a proposed project that could be a catalyst to building a future that honors and expands upon Jefferson Street’s rich legacy.

The Jefferson Street Cap is a proposed land bridge (a ‘cap’ or a ‘lid’) that would reconnect Jefferson and Scovel Streets above I-40 from D.B. Todd Blvd to 14th Ave North. If the community supports the project, the resulting space could be used in any number of ways to benefit and enrich the community and stakeholders in the Jefferson Street corridor.

Our focus is making sure that the voices of North Nashville are central to the conversation about this proposed project.

The engagement process officially begins with a community meeting at Noon on Saturday, October 9th at Lee Chapel AME Church’s lot at 1716 Scovel Street. Please join Mayor John Cooper, city officials, and North Nashville community leaders to learn more about the community engagement process for the Jefferson Street Cap including ways that you can weigh-in with thoughts, questions, concerns and ideas.

Your voice is invaluable to this effort, and options are already available for you to learn more, submit questions, and offer input:

Visit the project website and sign up to receive the latest information and updates on the process.

    * Email questions, comments or input to: JeffersonStreetCap@PublicInput.com

We look forward to seeing you at the community meeting on Saturday, October 9th and having your voice as a part of the coming conversations.
