NASHVILLE, Tennessee, – Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, Tennessee’s largest legal nonprofit, will commemorate 55 years of service with a special event, “A Night at Jubilee Hall,” to be held at Fisk University’s Jubilee Hall from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.

The festive event will celebrate Legal Aid Society’s progress, resilience and impact, as well as honor the many figures who have contributed to its success. Attendees will enjoy cocktails and food, live music and dancing, and exclusive historic tours.

“We’re constantly awed by the commitment of our Legal Aid Society staff, our pro bono attorneys and our supporters to helping combat injustice against vulnerable members of our community,” said DarKenya W. Waller, executive director of Legal Aid Society. “As Legal Aid Society comes out of some of the most successful years in its history, we want to rejoice in our accomplishments, say a sincere thank-you to our supporters and set our sights on the next 55 years and beyond.”

Legal Aid Society, originally known as Legal Services of Nashville Inc., opened its doors in 1969 with a staff of three attorneys. Over the past 55 years, it has grown in size and influence, with 55 staff attorneys in eight offices and additional pro bono attorneys now serving 48 counties across Middle Tennessee. Attorneys assist qualifying low-income individuals in issues involving housing; family law and domestic violence; immigration; health, benefits and education; employment; money and tax issues; and post-incarceration re-entry.

Tickets are available online through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/an-evening-at-jubilee-hall-legal-aid-societys-55th-anniversary-tickets-941972664597
