NASHVILLE, TN — Mending Hearts and Meharry Medical College are excited to announce the successful opening of Mend Me, a groundbreaking collaborative partnership program. With a strong commitment to serving the Office of Metro Homeless Services and Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County’s Housing First Supportive Services initiative, Mend Me strives to make a significant impact on chronic homelessness in the community.

The primary objective of Mend Me is to provide adults experiencing homelessness with the necessary support services and case management, ensuring they can access resources and maintain stable housing while transitioning towards better health and recovery. By embracing the housing first model as its core principle, the program recognizes the critical role of supportive services in facilitating individuals’ successful transition from homelessness to improved wellness.

To mark this significant milestone, a Ribbon Cutting & Open House event was held at The Knowles Center. Opening proceedings with introductions lead by Heather McBee, Executive Director of Mending Hearts, followed by an intimate and inspiring acoustic performance by the immensely talented Mitzi Dawn. Esteemed speakers including the Honorable Mayor Cooper, April Calvin, Director, Metro Office of Homelessness; Dr. Sam Macmaster, Executive Director, Meharry’s Lloyd C. Elam Mental Health Center; Dr. James Hildreth, president, Meharry Medical College; and Trina Frierson, founding CEO/president, Mending Hearts; highlighted the significance of this mission.

At the Ribbon Cutting ceremony, attendees had the exclusive opportunity to explore the upcoming office space at the Knowles Center, gaining valuable insights into the diverse range of services provided by Mending Hearts and Meharry Medical College. This event represents an important milestone in our shared commitment. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed partners, generous supporters, and exceptional team members. It is only through your unwavering dedication and commitment that this event has become an unparalleled success. We invite you to join us on this remarkable journey as we continue to witness the incredible progress of the Mend Me program.
