NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Music City Med, a leading medical consulting firm specializing in health care solutions, recently announced its participation in ‘The Best Internship In The World’. The program, spearheaded by Individuals Providing a Positive Presence (IPPP), was developed to help college students gain hands-on experience in a variety of industries throughout Middle Tennessee.

Students from Fisk University, Middle Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University, and University of Alabama began the summer long internship with a 1-week orientation lead by Internship Advisor Jamal Hutchinson and Sales Trainer Nitya Kirat.

While all internships provide the obvious benefit of experience and potential mentorship, Music City Med owner and founder Alphonso Harvey’s goal is to also allow students to learn of other opportunities to enter the healthcare field.

Outside of traditional medical careers such as a doctor or nurse, Harvey believes there are other healthcare professions that are often overlooked. “Our internship will expose our interns to the huge growth in healthcare,” he explained. “These students will learn that there are many ways to grow a career and to help patients have the best possible treatment.”

Music City Med is a local leader in providing Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS). Known as the ‘No Pill Pain Solution’, TENS is FDA approved and can be for physical therapy and rehabilitation. Unlike surgery or prescription drugs, TENS is virtually risk free from injury, side effects or addiction. The electrical current delivered by the electrodes only penetrates the skin to the level of the nerve fibers, posing no danger to individuals.

During the program interns will learn about sales by both contacting potential healthcare providers from inside the office, and then traveling to make actual sales calls. “This program will allow students exposure to various healthcare professionals as well as give them a chance to learn about the business of healthcare,” said Harvey.
