NASHVILLE, Tenn. (TN Tribune) – Mayor John Cooper today announced Robert Fisher will resign as Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor for Education to join Results for America, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to data-driven policymaking.
“It’s just hard to keep talented people in government when the private and philanthropic sectors need them just as much as we do and have more resources,” Mayor Cooper said. “A national organization spotted an outstanding young leader and offered him a great opportunity. We’re sad to lose Robert, but we are happy for him.”
Fisher joined the Cooper team in June 2020 as Senior Advisor for Education, working to secure passage of the mayor’s budget initiative to make Nashville’s teachers the highest-paid in Tennessee. When the pandemic forced Metro Schools into an all-virtual learning environment, he facilitated the mayor’s $24 million investment to provide every student a laptop.
“Our classrooms are more enriched because of Robert’s work,” the mayor added. “As mayor, I can’t think of a more important public service.”
