NASHVILLE, TN — After the past weekend’s NCAA Tournament games one Tennessee team looked ahead, while another’s season is over.
Tennessee’s men’s team hopes their offense will catch up to their defense as they face Creighton, a number three seed Friday night.
After two games Tennessee has held its opponents to season lows of 49 (Saint Peter’s) and 58 points (Texas).
But after scoring 83 in the opener, the Vols onky shot 34 percent and scored 62 points in game 2 against Texas.
Creighton is coming off a double overtime win over Oregon. They are 25-9 as opposed to Tennessee’s 26-8.
This is Tennessee’s third Sweet 16 under head coach Rick Barnes and second consecutive.
But the team’s ultimate goal is the Final Four. Tennessee has never reached it.
The Lady Vols’ season ended Monday 79-72 at the hands of North Carolina State.
An epic comeback that saw them cut a 20-point deficit to two ultimately failed.
Rickea Jackson had 33 points. The Lady Vols finished their season 20-13. They kept the school’s Tournament streak alive at 32.
But they couldn’t reach at least the Sweet 16 for the second time in head coach Kellie Harper’s five year tenure.”
