After three years with the Nashville State Community College Foundation, Ryan Parker has been named its new executive director following a search for outgoing director Cecily Freeman, who is moving to be closer to family.

Having joined Nashville State’s Foundation in July 2021, Parker has served as the development officer and director of donor relations and programs.

As a senior leader at the College, Ryan will be responsible for donor development, retention, and recognition; cultivating relationships with internal and external constituents to build, sustain, and support the college’s mission; growing college and alumni relations; and coordinating fundraising and engagement events.

The executive director serves on the President’s Cabinet.

“Ryan has proved to be entrepreneurial and dedicated to building resources and programs to support student success,” said Foundation Board Chair Nancy Eisenbrandt, a workforce development executive.  “For many people, a community college is the front door to higher education. Nashville State is dedicated to building the skills and credentials needed to ensure a diverse and qualified workforce.  On behalf of the Foundation board, we are excited to work with Ryan and the staff to support the college’s mission.”

“I am passionate about carrying out the mission of the Foundation in service of our students, alumni, and college community,” said Parker. “I am honored to be entrusted with an increased level of responsibility and am confident that I will continue with the same level of commitment.”

During his time at the college, among other responsibilities, Parker has grown the Foundation’s signature event, Tennessee Flavors, established The Falcon Awards recognizing alumni, donors, and friends, established new scholarships, and awarded funding to students through Beyond Financial Aid programs and scholarships.

“Ryan has repeatedly demonstrated a commitment to serve our students and alumni while being a great teammate,” Nashville State President Dr. Shanna L. Jackson said. “I am excited to continue partnering with Ryan on the Foundation’s important work.”

Before Nashville State, Parker held positions at the Wesley House Community Center and Philips North America.

Parker earned an Associate of Applied Science in Marketing from Pellissippi State Community College, a Bachelor in Business Administration at King University, and a Consortium for Social Enterprise Effectiveness Certificate from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
