Nashville, Tennessee – The Clark UMC Community Development Corporation (CDC), a non-profit organization focused on developing affordable housing in the core of Davidson County, announces a public ribbon-cutting ceremony for its inaugural project – six single-family homes in the north Nashville area. The event, slated Aug. 17, 10 a.m., marks a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to provide affordable, accessible housing to the community.

The ceremony will be held at 1217 Phillips Street, between 14th Avenue North and 12th Avenue North, and will begin with a welcome address by the Reverend Toi King, pastor of Clark Memorial United Methodist Church, followed by a brief history and overview of the project presented by Janice Woodard, president and board chair of the Clark UMC CDC.

The program will also include remarks from guests, including Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, the Reverend Dr. David Weatherly, CEO of the United Methodist Foundation, and Corey Hammonds, chief operating/credit officer for Citizens Savings Bank & Trust Company.

“Affordable housing is a cornerstone of a thriving community. It ensures that everyone, regardless of their economic situation, has a safe and secure place to call home,” said the Reverend Toi King, pastor of Clark Memorial United Methodist Church. “This project is a testament to our commitment to uplifting our neighbors and fostering a sense of belonging for all.”

“The UMDF is thrilled to partner with Clark UMC CDC in this impactful and missional community housing project in the historic Fisk-Meharry neighborhood of Nashville,” said the Reverend Dr. David Weatherly, president/CEO, United Methodist Foundation and Development Fund.

The Clark UMC CDC is dedicated to addressing the housing needs of Nashville residents by developing affordable housing options that support community, stability and growth. This new project will provide six units of affordable housing, helping to alleviate the burden of high living costs for many families.

“We are thrilled to support this crucial project led by the Clark UMC CDC,” said Corey Hammonds, chief operating/credit officer for Citizens Savings Bank & Trust Company. “Affordable housing is essential for creating stable, inclusive communities and we are proud to contribute to such a meaningful endeavor.”

Janice Woodard, president and board chair of the Clark UMC CDC, said, “Housing should be a right, not a privilege. We look forward to giving a path of new opportunity by providing quality affordable housing to deserving families.” For more information visit our website at www.clarkcdc.org.
