NASHVILLE, Tenn. (TN Tribune) – Nashville CARES celebrated the grand opening of its new Springfield satellite facility earlier today. This new Robertson County program office, located at 200 Northcrest Drive, Suite 220, Springfield, TN, will serve as a dedicated location supporting the communities of Robertson, Sumner, Montgomery, and Davidson counties by providing life-saving harm reduction services.
The Drug Awareness Response Team (DART) Program is now offering compassionate, non-judgmental support to individuals struggling with substance abuse, along with critical HIV and Hepatitis C testing and treatment services at the new facility.
Robertson County sits among four counties in Middle Tennessee with the highest number of overdose deaths, including Sumner, Cheatham, Montgomery, and Davidson County. Davidson County holds the second-highest overdose death rate in the nation. Opening a Harm Reduction Center in Robertson County was an important step in providing services to all those counties.
Recent HIV data from 2022 showed that 87 individuals were diagnosed with HIV in Davidson County, 8 in Sumner County, and 13 in Montgomery County.
Amna Osman, CEO of Nashville CARES, underscored the significance of the new facility, stating, “The need for this new satellite office cannot be overstated. HIV is not just an inner-city issue; it affects communities across all regions, including suburban and rural areas like Robertson County. This facility will provide critical, life-saving services to those most in need, offering not only harm reduction resources but also a path toward recovery and wellness.”
The new Robertson Campus DART Program Office is offering a range of essential services, including:
- Membership opportunities and participation incentives
- Free HIV and Hepatitis C testing
- Access to rapid ART (Antiretroviral Therapy) for new HIV diagnoses
- HIV treatment and medical care
- Free condoms and lube
- Free harm reduction supplies, including access to new syringes and used syringe disposal
- Free Narcan and/or Kloxxado
- Treatment, recovery, and MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) referrals
- Educational information
- Volunteer opportunities
The facility is fully equipped with an exam room and lab testing area to support comprehensive care.
The Robertson County DART Program office will be open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on the last Saturday of each month from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
