Funeral arrangements have been announced for Nashville businessman and former Metro Nashville Council member Jamie Isabel, who died Monday at the age of 61.
A public viewing will be held Thursday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lewis and Wright Funeral Directors, 2500 Clarksville Pike in Nashville.
Services will continue Friday, Aug. 21, at Temple Church, 3810 Kings Lane. Isabel will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by visitation with the family from 11 a.m. to noon. A celebration of life will begin at noon.
Entombment will follow at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum, 1428 Elm Hill Pike.
Isabel represented District 2 on the Metro Nashville Council from 2003 to 2007. During his four years on the council, he chaired the Parks, Library and Entertainment Facility Committee from 2006 to 2007 and the Federal Grants Committee from 2003 to 2004.
In addition to his public service, Isabel was a longtime Nashville businessman. He founded Dalmatian Creative Agency Inc., a full-service promotional products company specializing in corporate apparel and uniforms, in 1996. He later established Dalmatian Public Affairs as a division of the company.
Isabel also owned Nashville Threads, a retail shop at Nashville International Airport featuring gifts and apparel created by local and regional minority artists. He and his wife, Karen Anderson-Isabel, opened the business in 2021 after partnering with airport concession operators as part of the airport’s redevelopment of its retail program.
Born in Memphis, Isabel graduated from Memphis Central High School before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Tennessee State University in 1989.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to FiftyForward Bordeaux or the Davidson County Residential Recovery Court.
