By Chelsea Boatwright An estimated 275,000 women, men and children took to the streets of the nation’s capital in a sea of pink Saturday, in a massive march one day after the inauguration of President Donald Trump. The Women’s March on Washington brought together celebrities, politicians, and citizens, all with the common theme– that their rights matter. NewsVision reporter Chelsea Boatwright was there. Metro officials said there were 80,000 more subway riders to the area than there were for Trump’s inauguration.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Local artist Darren B. Rankins is spreading messages of hope and love with his collection of faith-based t-shirts and his actions. His recently launched crowdfunding campaign has raised over 10 percent of its $7,000 goal to donate t-shirts to members of Nashville’s homeless population, the Salvation Army, Feed the Children and other local organizations. Members of the award-winning Tennessee State University Forensics Team discussed whether or not African American celebrities should meet with President-elect Donald Trump at The Tennessee Tribune office on Jan. 19. Each student had persuasive arguments for why or why not a discussion should take place. The Take 10 discussion was on Facebook Live and the video can be accessed here. “It’s important to have a dialogue so he can understand what the opinions are from the black community,” one student said. LITHONIA, GA — Bishop Eddie Long, the often controversial pastor of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, died Sunday morning, January 15, 2017. He was 63 years of age. His church confirmed Pastor Long’s death earlier Sunday. According to reports, Bishop Long made his last public appearance about two weeks ago.
