NASHVILLE, TN. May 3, 2018 — Carol M. Swain, is running for Mayor of Nashville. The voters of Davidson County are tired of broken promises, underfunded schools, and cronyism that rewards those at the top. Carol M. Swain’s top priorities as Mayor are: improving infrastructure by repairing potholes, bridges, and roads in all neighborhoods; reducing violent crime through improved community and police partnerships; and ending the cronyism in City Hall which has resulted in the unfair distribution of resources. “Nashville is moving in the wrong direction and, as Mayor, I will work to turn our city around.” Our infrastructure is…
By Bill Freeman I am concerned with the painful challenges that the new public schools budget will cause. Despite board approval for a budget that will increase when other city department budgets are being trimmed, our schools will still see cuts and eliminations of important and necessary services. The path to this contentious budget was rocky and full of problems. In all honesty, I cannot recall in recent memory when a MNPS budget development and review was more error-filled, contentious and problematic. Under Dr. Joseph’s new $924 million budget that accounts for practically half of the entire budget for…

By Kerri Bartlett, Managing Editor, Williamson Herald Article submitted FRANKLIN, TN — The Williamson County Election Commission voted 3-2 last month to turn a complaint of possible “voter fraud” over to District Attorney Kim Helper, regarding two qualified Democratic candidates in the county and state primaries. The election commission also unanimously voted 5-0, requiring state law TCA 2-7-115 to be posted at all polling locations in the county, alerting voters that state law requires voters to be a “bona fide” member of the party on the ballot on which they are voting. The issues stem from qualifying candidates “crossing over party lines”…
