NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Derrick and Kevin Boseman, brothers of the late Chadwick Boseman, will introduce their new Nashville-based company during a special conversation at the 2026 International Black Film Festival in Nashville.
The brothers will give audiences a first look at what is ahead for the company in entertainment, philanthropy and community engagement.
Their appearance also will offer audiences an opportunity to learn more about the Boseman family and the experiences that shaped the three brothers. Derrick and Kevin Boseman will discuss growing up in Anderson, South Carolina, and how each brother found his own path through creativity, service and the arts.
The conversation comes as Chadwick Boseman’s 50th birthday approaches. Derrick and Kevin will discuss how their family plans to honor his life and creative legacy while also sharing their own vision for the future.
The special conversation will take place Saturday, Oct. 3, from 7 to 7:45 p.m. at the R. Milton and Denice Johnson Center. Derrick and Kevin Boseman are the featured guests.
The event is part of the International Black Film Festival, which returns to Nashville Sept. 30 through Oct. 4 for five days of films, premieres, industry conversations, red-carpet events and special programs.
This year’s festival theme is “ROI: Return on Independence,” with programming centered around Return on Voice, Return on Community, Return on Ownership and Return on Impact.
For more than 20 years, the International Black Film Festival has brought together creators and audiences. According to festival information, organizers have seen conversations develop into partnerships, screenings become career milestones and first-time attendees return as mentors.
The 2026 competition lineup includes narrative features, narrative shorts, long-form documentaries and short documentaries from filmmakers offering a range of perspectives and stories.
The festival also includes industry panels examining the changing entertainment business. “From Set to Soundstage: Actors, Vocal Artists & the New Entertainment Landscape,” presented by SAG-AFTRA, will bring together actors, singers and voice artists to discuss opportunities across film, television, voiceover, animation, commercials, music, digital media and emerging platforms.
The discussion also will address union membership, new technologies, Tennessee’s expanding entertainment industry and career opportunities for performers.
Another industry conversation, “ROI: Funding Facts & The Myth of The Overnight Deal,” will focus on what happens before a film, series or creative venture reaches the financing and investment stage. Producers, investors and industry professionals will discuss project preparation, understanding a project’s value, building relationships, creating leverage and preparing for negotiations.
Networking and social events are also scheduled throughout the festival, including the Link Up Happy Hour Mixer Sept. 30 at WXYZ Lounge at the Aloft, Mic Check: IBFF Karaoke Night and the Friday Night Meet Up Oct. 2 at No Where Special, and the IBFF Intimate Set Oct. 3 at 1865 Club.
Festival passes include options for screenings, marquee films, special features, panels, workshops and other festival programming.
The International Black Film Festival runs Sept. 30 through Oct. 4 in Nashville.
