    Celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month in April with these Nashville Events

    Nashville, Tenn. (TN Tribune) – In celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, the National Jazz Workshop invites the community to join these upcoming events:

    • Friday, April 5 (7PM) – Contemporary Jazz Guitarist Eric Essix at the WFSK Concert Series ($35)
    • Saturday, April 6 (These events are FREE and open to the public) –
      o Jazz AM Puppet Show (10-10:30) for kids featuring Jazz great Dizzy Gillespie. Jazz AM is a monthly program for the community that entertains and educates kids and families in a fun, interactive setting.
      o Jazz Appreciation Month Open House (2-6PM) join NJW to hear Jazz ensembles from around the community perform throughout the day, learn more about Jazz and visit the Jazz Cave.
    • Friday, April 12 (7:30PM) – Alex Graham: A Tribute to Coltrane & Cannonball, with two of Nashville’s preeminent saxophonists ($35)
    • Friday, April 19 (7:30PM) – Kevin Gastonguay, original music that blends the classic sounds of Minneapolis soul with modern funk and jazz ($35)
    • Saturday, April 20 (7:30PM) – Ty Bailie: Tribute to Dr. Lonnie Smith and Joey DeFrancesco, organist’s recording credits include Gladys Knight, Peter Frampton, Dave Mathews, and Katy Perry ($35)

    For over two decades the Nashville Jazz Workshop (NJW) has presented, instructed, and preserved the art of jazz in Music City, USA. Countless musicians, amateur to professional, jazz fans, and others have expanded their skills and appreciation for this distinct American art form through NJW classes, concerts, and special events for the community. As a nonprofit organization, NJW’s mission is to enrich people’s lives and build community through jazz education and performance. NJW is located in historic North Nashville
