Dr. Mildred Elizabeth Denby Green, 80, retired LeMoyne-Owen College Professor of Music, Music Area Coordinator and Choir Director, passed away January 8, 2019.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2019, with the home going services to be held on January 19, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Central Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Lynn Dandridge of Central Baptist Church will be officiating. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Dr. Green was Dean of Women and Faculty member at Owen College and Dean of Music, Choir Director and professor at LeMoyne-Owen College.

She taught piano privately for over 55 years. She was an author and composer and a Golden Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Dr. Green served as president of the Memphis Chapter of Les Gemmes, Inc. as well as President and Vice President of the Les Gemmes National Chapter.

She is survived by her sons, Reuben Green, II (Jasmine) of Powell, Ohio and Howard Green (Pascal) of McKinney, Texas; aunt, Dorothy Benn Armistead (age 98) seven cousins, Winnetha “Wendy” Benn-Burton of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Mack Benn III of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jacqueline Benn Hollingsworth of Fairfax, Virginia, Wesley Benn, Princess Benn Coker, Edward “Pete” Smith, all of Suffolk, Virginia and Bruce Benn of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Reuben Green, III, Caleb A. Green, Amber S. Green, all of Powell, Ohio. Adrienne Green of Melissa, Texas, Howard Green, Christopher Green, and D’Andre Green, all of McKinney, Texas, and 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
