NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Elevate North Nashville Community Development Corporation (ENN CDC), in partnership with the historic House of God Church, celebrated a major milestone on October 30 with the completion of its first affordable housing development on Scovel Street.
Completed in less than one year following groundbreaking, the new income-based rental duplexes represent the first tangible step in a larger community-led redevelopment vision designed to address displacement, expand housing opportunities, and strengthen the economic future of North Nashville.
The celebration brought attention to a growing movement among neighborhood institutions to transform community-owned land into opportunities that benefit longtime residents and future generations.
Building Homes. Preserving Community.
As rising property values and housing costs continue to challenge North Nashville families, the completed development offers newly constructed, income-based rental housing intended to help residents remain connected to the neighborhood they call home.
The development is an early milestone in ENN CDC’s broader revitalization strategy, which envisions additional housing, neighborhood-serving businesses, community amenities, and shared spaces that support economic mobility and quality of life.
With more than four acres of land owned by the House of God Church, the partnership demonstrates how longstanding community institutions can help shape development that responds directly to neighborhood needs.
A Vision Beyond Housing
The completion signals a transition from planning to implementation for Elevate North Nashville.
Future development priorities include expanding affordable and attainable housing, improving access to essential services, strengthening neighborhood commerce, and creating opportunities for residents to participate in the community’s economic growth.
ENN CDC is seeking additional public, private, philanthropic, and development partners to help advance these initiatives.
A Growing Story of Community Investment
The Scovel Street development has already received local media attention, including coverage by NewsChannel 5 highlighting its role in helping longtime North Nashville residents remain in their community.
The project’s completion reinforces a central belief driving ENN CDC’s work: revitalization should strengthen the people and institutions that have sustained North Nashville for generations.
Building Faith. Building Impact. Building Futures.
