    ‘Everybody is an expert’

Editor’s Note: I’m Wanda and I’m answering questions that you may have on a variety of subjects while also seeking your thoughts on issues. While some things are considered an opinion they are also sometimes paralleled by hard facts and, most importantly, genuine heartfelt feelings. No, I’m not the “know it all” expert, but we can certainly start a conversation.

On any given day, you may find yourself in a dilemma concerning your health, finances, a relationship or some type of situation that leads you to ponder on how to handle matters at hand. Have you noticed, and surely you have, that there is a plethora of books, shows, podcasts, even articles…that speak on answers to questions or sometimes suggestions about living, without being asked? Maybe you have already talked to your barber, hairstylist, friend or someone else. Also, there is even the probability that you have searched the Internet to find information concerning any subject of choice.

While sitting and talking with a few people, the question was asked, “Hey Wanda, why is it that nowadays EVERYBODY is an expert?” Hmmm, why would they ask me? Of course, I know it’s not because they think that I know EVERYTHING. In fact, I don’t know everything. Perhaps they just need someone to listen to most of all.

Nevertheless, that was the question asked and, in my effort to share information and make conversation, I will give my unauthorized thoughts, to which you are invited to respond with your own question or opinion.

I asked my iPhone, “Hey Siri, what is an expert?” Siri said, “An expert is somebody who has a broad and deep understanding and competence in terms of knowledge, skill and experience through practice and education in a particular field or area of study.”

We have all had experiences in life. No two paths are the same, making our skills and knowledge on issues different. Our lives are like that of fingerprints – two lives are never repeated. There may be similar parallels, but there will be a variation somewhere. There may also be issues some people will never come across in a lifetime.

Back to the question about being an expert. Where one person cannot change a tire, another person is a mathematician and another is an outstanding cook, yet another can repair any car…and the list goes on and on. Therefore, yes, everyone is an expert, according to Siri. So, don’t fret about feeling there is an overload of expertise, just be sure to seek the proper source for whatever your need may be.

You caught me at the “write” time! If you have a question or comment you want to share with other readers on this or any subject, email heywandaclay@gmail.com, and look for your response. (Your name will be included with your permission only.)
