Nashville, TN — The Nashville Fisk University Alumni Association (NFUAA) and the Fisk Jubilee Singers Alumni (FJSA) proudly announce the 2025 Gold & Blue Jubilee Bash Heritage Awards, a signature cultural and philanthropic event honoring legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The gala will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) in downtown Nashville.

The Gold & Blue Jubilee Bash celebrates the enduring legacy of Fisk University, home to the world-renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers, while raising essential funds for student scholarships. Each year, the event brings together alumni, community leaders, and supporters for an evening of artistry, impact, and purpose.
This announcement comes on the heels of the 2025 Jubilee Day festivities. “The story of the Fisk Jubilee Singers is one of endurance and artistic brilliance,” said Geo Cooper, President of the Fisk Jubilee Singers Alumni Association. “They carried our songs into the world and, in doing so, cemented our contributions in history. The Gold & Blue Jubilee Bash honors that legacy by reminding us that music has always been both our testimony and our bridge to the future.”

“The Nashville Fisk University Alumni Association is deeply committed to ensuring that the next generation of Fisk students has access to the same transformative education that shaped all of us,” said Van Pinnock, President of the Nashville Fisk University Alumni Association. “The Gold & Blue Jubilee Bash continues that legacy by linking our history to the future and investing in the next generation of Fisk scholars.”
This year’s honorees, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, have profoundly influenced the music industry as Grammy-winning songwriters and producers whose work spans decades and genres. Their artistry embodies the innovation, excellence, and cultural legacy the Jubilee Bash seeks to honor.

“This event represents more than a celebration, it is a commitment to opportunity and excellence,” said Dr. Agenia Walker Clark, President of Fisk University. “Honoring legends like Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis helps us inspire our students, and expand access to higher education for generations to come.”
The event will include live performances, special tributes, and a celebration of Black musical excellence rooted in Fisk’s storied heritage. Proceeds from the evening will support Fisk University scholarships, ensuring that the spirit of the Jubilee Singers continues to resonate through future generations.

    About The Fisk Jubilee Singers

The original Fisk Jubilee Singers departed Nashville – in 1871 – on their historic fundraising tour to save Fisk University from financial hardship. Their success not only preserved the institution but also introduced the world to the power and beauty of Negro spirituals, forever changing American music. During their travels, the Singers performed before Queen Victoria of England, whose admiration for their artistry led her to remark that their hometown must be “a city of music.” That royal compliment gave Nashville the enduring nickname “Music City.”
Today, the Fisk Jubilee Singers continue the tradition of singing the Negro spiritual around the world.
