Nashville, TN (TN Tribune)–Walk Bike Nashville, Strategize 619, and Simone Boyd are co-hosting the 2nd Open Streets on Buchanan. Open Streets is a global movement started in Bogota, Columbia, in the 1970s. In Bogota, over 60 miles of city streets are closed every Sunday to cars, allowing bicyclists and pedestrians to use the main roads.

Open Streets is an invitation to see what our neighborhoods can be if we see streets as flexible, that can be used sometimes for cars and sometimes for people, art, and activities. When only 19% of our streets in Nashville have sidewalks, we should be looking at programming like Open Streets for our children, elderly and community at large to have a place to play outside”- Brenda Perez, community engagement manager at Walk Bike Nashville.
