NASHVILLE, Tenn. October 1, 2026 — Davidson County Clerk Sharon W. Hurt is marking her first 30 days in office with a focus on faster service, reducing backlogs and increasing transparency for Davidson County residents and businesses.
A key priority has been reducing the backlog of dealership license plate transactions. Through a focused effort by Clerk Hurt and her staff, the office has made significant progress in processing outstanding transactions and improving service for dealerships and their customers. When she first started, the backlog was close to five weeks.
Hurt said the improvements reflect her commitment to making the office more responsive and accountable.
“Our first 30 days have been about listening, identifying where our customers need us to improve, and taking action, ” Hurt said. “We are committed to making the Davidson County Clerk’s Office more efficient, accessible and responsive. Reducing the dealership backlog is an important first step, and we are focused on sustained improvement.”
Long-time customer Steve McClure said, “the process is moving, the communication is better, and customers are being treated with a greater sense of urgency. You can see that the office is focused on getting things done.”
The Clerk’s Office is also launching a new “Service Transactions Dashboard” on its website, providing the public with greater visibility into the volume of services delivered by the office.
From January 1 through September 30, 2026, the office processed 544,909 service transactions.
The dashboard (found here) will provide an ongoing measure of the office’s workload and performance while giving residents and businesses greater transparency into the services provided by their County Clerk’s Office.
“The people of Davidson County deserve an office that works for them,” Hurt said. “We want our results to be visible, measurable and accountable. I am proud of what our team has accomplished in our first 30 days, and we are just getting started.”
The Davidson County Clerk’s Office will continue to focus on improving customer service, reducing backlogs, modernizing operations and providing transparent, measurable results, according to a release.
