Nashville, Tenn. – The Lady Cobras are ready to strike with new head coach William Cummings. Cummings replaces former head coach Lakisa Dobbins.
“This is an exciting day for our school and our girls’ basketball program” says Melissa. J. Brooks, executive principal. “Coach Cummings is exactly the kind of leader we were looking for, a native Nashvillian that will inspire our student athletes to compete at a high level while growing as young women. We are excited to see the energy, vision, and positive culture that he will bring to our program.”
Cummings, no stranger to the district, began his coaching career at Stratford Middle School before moving to Stratford High School as an assistant coach for the boys’ basketball team. Most recently, he served as head coach of the Stratford High School girls’ basketball program, where he turned the program around and earned recognition as the 2026 Metro Nashville Basketball Coaches Association 2A Girls Basketball Coach of the Year.
“I am honored and excited to join the Whites Creek family,” says Cummings. “My goal is to build a program that develops young women of character, values academic excellence, competes with discipline and toughness, and represents Whites Creek with pride. I look forward to working with our student-athletes, families, and community as we build a program that everyone can be proud of.”
