NASHVILLE, TN — Meharry Medical College, located at 1005 Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard, is hosting a free dental and medical exam event on June 15. Doors open and registration begins at 7 a.m. Residents (adults and children) of Davidson County and children attending Metro Nashville Public Schools are eligible for this free service.
The event is focused on providing essential healthcare services to the community, including dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, physicals, BMI checks, diet counseling, and smoking cessation.
This initiative is part of Meharry’s commitment to improving health outcomes in Tennessee, where there has been a noted rise in uninsured residents. Community-focused events like this are crucial for fostering a healthier and more equitable society.
Meharry has championed underserved populations with a mission to “advance health equity through innovative research, transformative education, exceptional and compassionate health services and policy-influencing thought leadership.”
Founded in 1876, Meharry Medical College is the nation’s largest private, independent historically Black academic health sciences center dedicated to educating minorities and other health professionals.
