KNOXVILLE, TN  — The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors former first Vice President, Carol Stiff, is officially the new board President replacing Danielle Donehew whose three-year term ended on June 13, 2020. Stiff will serve in this new position on the board for the next two years.

“I am thrilled to take on this new role with the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Board,” said Stiff. Danielle has done a tremendous job as president and I look forward to continuing that work as we all strive to persistently grow the Hall of Fame and the sport of women’s basketball.”

Stiff – who in 25 plus years at ESPN has become one of the most influential people in women’s college sports, particularly in basketball where ESPN has held exclusivity on the NCAA tournament since 1996 – is Vice President, Programming & Acquisitions. She is tasked with leading the company’s efforts in NCAA women’s basketball and the WNBA, as well as integrating espnW content across ESPN platforms.

Stiff is a member of several professional groups, including the Women’s Sports Foundation, appointed to the USA Women’s Basketball Standing Committee, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Screening Committee, the Collegiate Women’s Sports Awards Board, Pat Summitt Advisory Committee and has served as a panelist and/or lecturer for several sports-related events. Stiff graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education; then again in 1989 she received a Master’s degree in Human Performance/Physical Education.

The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors serves as the selection committee in determining which individuals will be inducted each year and which groups will be honored as “Trailblazers of the Game.” As board president, Stiff will lead a team of both local and national board members that work to fulfill the Hall’s mission to honor the past, celebrate the present and promote the future of women’s basketball.
