NASHVILLE, TN — Noting that the MNPD is in compliance with 100% of model law enforcement standards and policies, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) today granted the department Advanced Reaccreditation with Excellence for a period of three years.
The action came after Chief Anderson appeared before a panel of commissioners this morning at CALEA’s summer meeting in Providence, Rhode Island.
CALEA Commissioner and Rhode Island State Senator Cynthia Armour Coyne noted that the department had a “glowing report” from its March 2017 inspection, and added, “You should be commended for your community outreach.”
The MNPD has been continuously accredited since 1994, nearly a quarter century.
Chief Anderson said maintaining that status is a top priority.
“Subscribing to an evolving set of 373 internationally accepted standards is part of this police department’s absolute commitment to professionalism and partnership as we work with citizens across our eight precincts to promote public safety and enhance quality of life,” Chief Anderson said. “Maintaining more than two decades of accredited status is good for our police department and good for Nashville.”
